Riana
du Plessis is a professional Urban Planner and Urban Designer with
specialisation in the fields of precinct planning, layout design, urban
design frameworks, regional spatial planning, urban research and monitoring,
the formulation of urban development and management strategies and the
development of land use policies. Projects extend across a geographic spectrum from neighbourhood up to
provincial level, including many different socio-economic environments (from
informal settlements through to affluent areas).
Riana du Plessis Urban Planning cc was established at the end of 2007, but she
has 23 years' experience in both the private sector and local authority environments with expert knowledge of the urban planning and development
situation, challenges and opportunities in South Africa and Africa.
She
has been involved in Master Planning projects in a number of African countries,
including Kenya, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe, which also
required getting to know the planning law and systems of some of these
countries.
Riana
du Plessis has been a part-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria’s
Department of Town and Regional Planning since 2007. She has served as a member
of the Gauteng Townships Board since June 2015 and was appointed as an external
member to the City of Tshwane’s Municipal Planning Tribunal in May 2016.
